The lab is situated against the grain of blackboxing: “black box” is French philosopher Bruno Latour's metaphor for systems that only have observable inputs and outputs, but with hidden internal complex processes. Inspired by this metaphor, the Drawing and Light Lab explores and experiments with modes of 2D/3D projected drawn image construction, to foreground, explore and evidence its own workings.
This series of workshops explores 2D/3D drawing through testing and experimentation with projection processes and analogue tools. Each session revolves around a theme and physical media will be used to project images made with light and shadow, transparency, and objects.
